Nothing New -- Poor Service Sucks

If you don't think the quality of people working in an organization matters, then think again. Russell Shaw wrote an article at Bloodhound about quality and getting a higher price for service with quality work -- I disagreed slightly that at some point price begins to matter and it's best to find a balance; however, Russell's point is a good one -- price is meaningless in the absence of value, as I've heard it said.

Right now I'd pay a higher monthly price for a business website provider, or I would pay the one I have if they started providing top quality service again. I don't want to call them out my name, because I've been with them for 5 years and I feel a sense of loyalty, although with a little search of my links you could figure out who it is. But this is not about them, per se -- it's about a growing frustration I have with poor service.

My business website's problem, in my estimation, is that they lost quality people and the new Head Muckity-muck doesn't give a rat's ass about service. There, I got it out and I feel better -- It's my opinion.

Too many companies think they can replace key people easily -- you just check a resume and if it looks good hire 'em and plug 'em in -- after all, it's the brillance of the "company" that makes the difference, not individual players. Yeah, right.

If you lose a couple of key players it can destroy you if you have that mindset and don't go about a search to buy the best talent you can buy to replace them. Yes, "BUY", it takes money to get talent.

I have news for companies who fail to provide quailty service and products -- YOU ARE DOOMED!

It's only going to get worse as smarter consumers expect and demand cutting edge service and products. I'm fed up to my bluish-green eyeballs with mediocrity. I despise mediocricy, and I despise the arrogant attitude that thinks an abstraction like a "company" is more that the make-up of the individuals working there. If you have great individuals working in the company, you'll most likely have a great company, if the systems allow them to work together to be great, but if you have a company full of mediocre, talentless robots, no system in the world, nor any image in the world will make them a great company -- especially in key positions.

Stalin's idiocy was his belief that all the business people in Russia were merely glorified clerks that you plug into positions and tell them what to do from central command. Bullshit! We know what happened to that grand idea. A company needs smart, innovative people throughout the company, but especially in key positions -- and they need to be allowed to perform. I've had it with mediocrity and arrogance. I don't want to have to change providers because I've put so much into this one and it will be a hassle making a change, but I've finally had enough.
