An Open Letter To Google
Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 07:49PM Dear Google,
Let me begin by stating that I'm in awe of all you've accomplished. For years I've benefitted from your genius, and the information I've retrieved over and over again on various subjects from Donald Duck to Milton has enriched my life and made learning a hassle-free, enjoyable endeavor. Thank you.
I'm writing to you as spokesman/owner/broker of a small real estate in Savannah, Ga. For the last five years, since starting my business, I've worked diligently to provide the highest quality service my abilities will allow. I'm constantly learning new methods to improve the service I offer, continously adopting new technologies to better serve the real estate consumer.
I know you, too, are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence as it relates to the consumer's experience with Google search. And this, dear Google, is why I am writing to you, to petition you as you continue to improve your algorithms to better serve the needs of your valued customers and mine - keep in mind that the best real estate search results are local companies who personalize home searches and provide information that is vital to relocation needs. As baby boomers use Google to search areas of concern, it will be in their interest to find search results that will serve their needs directly. It's true we will not have advertisements on our site; however, if quality, focused search is your goal, we'll be their best find.
I promise you we will not compomise your trust in us as you recognize our quality and willingness to serve by allowing us reasonable placement. We can't afford SEO experts; all we have is our knowledge, experience and willingness to achieve excellence.
I would like to thank you ahead of time for your consideration in this matter. If you'll give us a stage, we'll not disappoint -- your customers will be valued and we'll go to extra lengths to take special care of them.
Yours Truly,
Mike from Savannah

well said! It drives me crazy when shallow websites with no hard core info on the market and its trends get ranked higher...much less national sites that do not provide the local insights of the local consultants.

Hopefully, consumers will realize, as they get more search savvy, that the experienced, connected agents can offer them everything they need.
We'll have to do a better job of not spamming and allowing the consumer to use our sites without hassle.
Once the experience is useful and informational, they'll realize it's a more efficient route to finding a home. Now, if Google will find a way to recognize this fully, it'll be wonderful.
Very interesting letter. I think that you said everything what I would say to google. I work in a real estate business dealing with Vancouver BC real estate and I use google tools a lot. I agree with what you wrote Jay. They should;t get higher rank when they do not provide us with better information than the sites with lower rank. I hope that people form Google will read your letter Savannah.
Vancouver, I hope so too. Wouldn't it be something if I received a reply?
Mike,
