This site is about libertarian ideas, politics, economics, government, freedom, property rights, entrepreneurship, innovation, objectivty and other such stuff important to humans. I uphold libertarian principles and believe wholeheartedly in minimal government, or no government if it would work -- this blog explains why.

    Moderates are always pushed left

    http://www.ordinary-gentlemen.com/2009/10/i-heart-biden/

When I first started reading at The League of Ordinary Gentlemen, I understood them to be taking a somewhat moderate political stance with a few avowed leftists and a couple of libertarians thrown in to make it eclectic. However, this attempt to avoid extremes and search for the truth through open-mindedness, moderation and respect for all views most always goes left and exclusive. The above linked post is not very open-minded of intellectually honest -- it's definitely not respectful.

Many of the posts at this site have moved left since I started reading. This relates to my recent posts regarding narratives. Young, educated thinkers, especially, have been influenced by the progressive/statist narrative, so that even when they strive for objectivity or moderation, they are pushed left by political correctness. Peer pressure is as strong on internet sites as it is on college campuses -- no one wants to stick out as an oddball, so they all begin to sound alike, at least within their group.

It's hard to know if they all think alike, but I doubt it -- they just begin to sound alike and express disdain for the same politically incorrect groups and individuals -- Cheney, Bush, Beck, Limbaugh, Palin, Levin. No matter what the politically incorrect say, it's "Who cares?" They all (or most) begin to criticize the same people and never give them credit for what they say that's right and objectively true -- they block the politically incorrect out because they're ostracized from the groups's approved political thinkers. This is not open-minded or intellectually honest.
