On one hand, Obama and the progressives have their corporate cronies whom they favor and protect, but it's all in service of the advancement of ideology and the aggrandizement of a powerful State. Obama, in general, neither understands nor supports private enterprise, especially companies which are perfectly happy with government leaving them alone. In other words, Obama views industry as a means to progressive ends. Obama and the progressives are on a mission to increase control over private enterprise, to guide and shape industries for the purposes of the State.
Obama's recent attack on The Chamber of Commerce reveals his underlying disdain of private enterprise, and how he believes there is a cabal of businesses not yet pleased being under government control which are fighting against the progressive agenda. Control of enterprise is vital to control of the economy, so, first, businesses have to be demonized and framed as enemies of the State -- Obama has even suggested that "foreign" business interests are involved in the fight against progressivisim -- and even -- gasp! -- Big Oil and Big Insurance. It must be the insurance companies who were left out of healthcare sweetheart deals, because the insurance companies who have been blessed by the law should be satisified with the coercive measures to kill meaningful competition.
