    The Party of Results

Tim Caine's new slogan for the Democrat Party is the "The Party of Results". The spin is that the American people are protesting because the government is not interfering enough, and that the Democrats would interfere much more if the Republicans weren't blocking them. But despite Republican blockage, the Democrats are going to interfere anyway and show they can interfere even when they're opposed. Caine would call this interference -- "doing the people's business" -- but it's interference in the economy, nonetheless.

I suppose that it might be true that across the country there's growing frustration that Democrats haven't done more, but this is not what I'm hearing. I hear calls to cut spending and limit government power, but I guess that could be taken as a call to pass more expensive, interventionist legislation.

Seriously, though, Caine made the point that although people are now dissatisfied, in reality people like success, so after the Democrats have passed legislation which transforms the American free enterprise system and redistributes the wealth, the shear magnificence of the achievements will have the people clamoring for more.

Caine is being sincere when he says he thinks the administration will inspire awe and that this awe will generate success for the Democrats. This is how the political class looks at the country -- as peole who are simpy manipulated into appreciating power. His implication is that people don't really know what's good for them, but after they see what's accomplished, they'll be amazed and grateful.

If this strategy works, America is in real trouble -- serious trouble.
