    5 year timeline for Afghanistan

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/06/26/world-leaders-afghan-security-forces-years-control/

I must be reading this incorrectly. We're giving Afghanistan five more years to "assume increasing responsibility"? Increasing responsibility? Five more years?

So, we've gone from pulling out next year to five more years to show increasing responsibility. That will be 14 years! You would think after the nine years we've been there they would show full responsibility, if they are capable of it. Surely, I'm reading this incorrectly.

Something else is going on here. Why would we possibly go for five more years in Afghanistan?
