Media bias, Tea Party, OWS and the Republican Party

It's obvious that liberal media outlets are focusing on the flaws of Republican primary candidates while ignoring the serious problems America faces. Obama and the Democrat Party have made the problem of recession worse, just as FDR's economic manipulations made the Great Depression worse, but aside from a few general critiques that Obama is not doing enough to create jobs, the focus is on Republicans. Media in general are ignoring the damage progressive policies are doing to the economy. The modern liberal narrative that capitalism went wild the last decade and created a great economic downturn is one of the biggest lies put forth by the political class. At every turn for decades now statism has been slowly beating small and medium sized businesses to death with senseless regulations that benefit State-friendly corporations.

Fannie and Freddie and politicians bent on social engineering played key roles in creating the housing bubble which was the final blow and sent America's economy into a downward spiral. Now, statists of all stripes are furiously manipulating, spinning, planning and denying all responsibility for the economic problems. Even when Democrats blame Bush, they blame him for allowing capitalists to have their way. While it's true that statism needs a cozy relationship with select, powerful corporations, all capitalist activity is taking a hit, and free market principles are blamed. This is an outrageous lie. State capitalism is a perversion of capitalism, and it's past time to stop denigrating capitalism just because the State has perverted capitalism.

OWS protests against capitalism, but what they are mad about has nothing to do with captialism or free markets, and everything to do with statism, but you don't see OWS clamoring for limited government. Media outlets have given OWS a pass, and all one has to do is imagine the Tea Party doing what OWS has done. It doesn't take long to realize that media outlets are in the propaganda business. Some will claim that this is hyperbole, and they will quickly point to news stories in the NYT and other liberal media outlets to show stories and reports unfavorable to the administration and OWS and Democrats of one type or another, but this is just a another attempt at obscurantism.

On the whole, media outlets have focused on Bush's two terms and Republican candidates in the primary, while giving Obama, Democrats and OWS a way out. You will see luke-warm criticism of Obama followed by the obligatory sad alternative -- the crazy Republicans. You will see stories reporting on violence and crime at OWS gatherings followed by the obligatory addendum that the crime is only a fringe aspect of OWS.

I've predicted that media have passed the point of credibility and from here on out they're in decline. The public no longer believes the lies, but that doesn't stop the lies. It seems like liberal media believe that if they simply keep up the lies, they'll wear down the public. Not this time. Not this time.

I'm not defending Republicans -- I'm condemning media bias, and if media focused mainly on the flaws of Democrats and progressive policies while ignoring statism on the Right, I would condemn this bias just as strongly.
