What is wrong with Nora O'Donnell?
Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 08:19PM Above is an example of how partisan spin has ruined someone who could otherwise be a top-notch reporter. O'Doinnell has the intelligence, skill and the presence necessary for excellence. I've watched on Morning Joe appearances, and, when the subject is apolitical, O'Donnel is bright and witty, and her laugh is infectious, but, as soon as politics enter the discussion and Obama is criticized, O'Donnell shifts into an angry defender of the faith, often making specious arguments only a partisan can accept. O'Donnell either has political ambitions and hopes to become a part of the administration, or she hates the Right so much she's willing to sacrifice integrity in order to defeat them politically, or she's a true believer in progressivism who can't separate her political faith from objective information.
It's a shame to watch such brilliant reporters and journalists in media choose sides in a two-party political battle, but beyond this is the overarcing battle between statist and anti-statists and the media's role in protecting the State from close scrutiny and revelation of base corruption. O'Donnell is not only a Democrat, she's a statist who sees all issues as challenges requiring State solutions. This has also ruined the Old Media, which should be an independent safeguard in defense of liberty, facts, justice and equality. We desperately need free-thinking, independent reporters and journalists who are concerned with facts, fairness and the abusive nature of State power, but it seems they've all capitulated, and their main concern is promoting the Party which they feel best protects the State.
