Private charity vs the welfare state
Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 09:24PM This is a good article written by Ted DeHaven at Cato. I have been beating this drum for years. In order to bring the State under control and better serve those with needs in society, private charity must take the place of the welfare state. The welfare state has been used as a major justification for State power and ocntrol, yet its consequences have been devastating. The welfare state has turned into a self-perpetuating component of the State machine which fosters dependence for political purposes. Charity is a moral action, and there's nothing moral about being forced to support a failed welfare state in the service of building an ever-greater voting base.
dependence,
private charity,
voting base,
welfare state
