Kevin Williamson at NRO is correct. We've given presidents too much power, and this is dangerous. The Awlaki assassination is something the American people should loudly denounce -- this is no time to go morally blind and forget what we're doing here. A president with this much power is a danger to all of us, regardless of the particular president in power. We are a better nation than this.
I wrote a while back that President Obama would start killing one al Qaeda leader at a time because of the popularity bump he got by killing bin Laden, but Awlaki has no power or influence, and he has no followers -- Awlaki is an American citizen and hasn't been convicted of a crime. For all we know Awlaki has merely talked a big game and sought attention -- but our Presidents don't have a right to send drone missiles to blow up those who bluster against America. This is a serious offense.
