Morning Joe 1/20/2012 -- Colbert endorses Ron Paul
Friday, January 20, 2012 at 08:54AM Morning Joe continued with their superficial political analysis, and they didn't show any signs of shame, which is quite remarkable. Newt Gingrich was right about one thing in the Republican debate last night -- the elite media are upping the attacks on Republicans and working overtime to protect Barack Obama.
It appears, also, that elite media are working overtime to attack Romney in order to keep Gingrich alive (He's ALIVE!). I don't know if this is out of fear of Paul and Romney being left as the two candidates, which will empower Paul, or because they want the Republican race to appear dysfuntional. Republicans are less dysfunctional than Obama and Democrats, but media focus on the most superficial aspects of the primary race and pretend this is political analysis. Morning Joe didn't disappoint -- they presented superficial analysis with the best of them. Who knows what the ulterior motives are in media, but underneath all the superficial entertainment hoopla is a libertarian-leaning faction on the Right which is serious about change in government. The challenge is whether they can overcome the media show and overall political dysfunction.
Joe Scarborough likes to fancy himself a power player in the Republican Party, although he's just another clown on the bus, and he said he's been talking to Republican movers and shakers, and that these powerful Republicans want a brokered convention. It doesn't matter, really, unless the Republicans can run someone against Obama who will make a difference if he/she wins. For serious Americans concerned with the failure of statism, this election is about the role of government going forward -- however, too many Republicans in politics are stuck in the status quo game. They use ideas of limits on power and a free market as a talking strategy to please the goobers who really believe in limits and economic freedom, then when in office they play the power game that has made government positions so attractive -- a career of spending other people's money and levergaing power for a payoff that sets them for life.
The faction on the Right, and the few liberals who've had enough of interventionist government, are looking for representatives with integrity, who are intellectually consistent, as Steven Colbert said about Ron Paul. Colbert was on Morning Joe, and when asked whom he favored among the Republican candidates, Colbert said Paul, because Paul is intellectually consistent. Yes, the news today is that Colbert endorses Ron Paul -- you should too.
Oh, I forgot to mention -- Romney is still rich. According to the expert politicial analysts on Morning Joe, the most critical situation we presently face is when will Romney release his tax returns, and why doesn't he just jump and obey the command when media demands the returns? It's horrible, I tell you. How much more can the nation take? We have to see the returns, our country's future depends on them.
