Republican debate in the Sunshine State
Monday, January 23, 2012 at 10:47PM I watched most of the debate and I thought all four candidates did well. Romney and Paul were especially strong. Santorum came across as angry and far too eager to start a war with Iran, although he forcefully made his points. Gingrich is posing as front runner, above it all, and continues to focus on his debating skills. If debating could turn around America and get us going in the right direction, Gingrich might have a point, but the job of President requires little debating. Gingrich is a loose cannon with statist tendencies and is unsuited to lead an opposition movement against central planning and interventionism. Gingrich is a master central planner -- it fits his personality.
Ron Paul is most suited to lead an opposition movement against statist/progressive governance. Romney could very well rise to the challenge if enough Americans put pressure on him to limit power in DC. Overall, the four Republicans looked strong -- the battle is providing focus, although it's been wild at times. Paul has to stay in this race to keep a light on liberty and on ending our wars in the mideast and not starting another one in Iran. Santorum listed all of Iran's offenses against us, but these offenses are not limited to Iran - practically the whole region is against us and has worked against us in one way or another by supporting terrorist acts. This is why we need to start producing our own energy and stay out of this region. As long as we intervene in mideast affairs they will fight against our involvement.
