Glenn Beck 3/29/2011 -- Pro-Israel
Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 05:56PM There was a time in the US when there was doubt whatsoever that Americans support Israel and have a very special relationship with Israel -- politically, economically and spiritually. Now, it appears that many on the Left are following a global revival of anti-semitism, although most on the Left would say they have problems with the State of Israel, not with the Jewish people, but why does the Left have a problem with Israel. Beck made comparisons between Israel and the average Muslim-controlled country. Israel, although not perfect, just as no nation is perfect, matches our values much more closely than Muslim nations which persecute gays and women, suppress free speech and squash all dissension and religious differences. There is no question that Israel is a kindred spirit to America, so why the pressure from the Left? I find it difficult to believe the extreme Islamic version of Palestinian suppression and abuse by Israel, and I have to wonder why the Left is so eager to believe this version?
Does it have to do with the Left's overarcing goals, as Beck claims, and that the Left accepts what George Soros said when he claimed that America, and by extension, Israel, presents the main obstacle to a new world order? It's one of the only explanations that makes sense.
Beck claimed it's time to make judgements between good and evil. I realize that it's intellectually fashionable to resist such judgements, but when situations deterioriate to the point of being dangerous, humans survive only by making such judgements. Is the Left evil? The Left is an abstraction for a huge number of individuals, so it's ridiculous to call all these individuals evil, but ideas can be evil and need to be judged as evil because of the damage they cause -- as what happened in Russia, China, France, Germany, and, in America during certain times when evil ideas inspired humans to act against our own interests and morals.
Hopefully, we've learned from history, and this mistaken path taken by the Left can be corrected and it will not lead to tragedy. Yes, it's time to make judgements. I choose Israel, because, despite all of Israel's faults, those who surround Israel are preaching destruction, and it's obvious that's not the answer.
