    Glenn Beck 3/29/2011 -- Pro-Israel

There was a time in the US when there was doubt whatsoever that Americans support Israel and have a very special relationship with Israel -- politically, economically and spiritually. Now, it appears that many on the Left are following a global revival of anti-semitism, although most on the Left would say they have problems with the State of Israel, not with the Jewish people, but why does the Left have a problem with Israel. Beck made comparisons between Israel and the average Muslim-controlled country. Israel, although not perfect, just as no nation is perfect, matches our values much more closely than Muslim nations which persecute gays and women, suppress free speech and squash all dissension and religious differences. There is no question that Israel is a kindred spirit to America, so why the pressure from the Left? I find it difficult to believe the extreme Islamic version of Palestinian suppression and abuse by Israel, and I have to wonder why the Left is so eager to believe this version?

Does it have to do with the Left's overarcing goals, as Beck claims, and that the Left accepts what George Soros said when he claimed that America, and by extension, Israel, presents the main obstacle to a new world order? It's one of the only explanations that makes sense.

Beck claimed it's time to make judgements between good and evil. I realize that it's intellectually fashionable to resist such judgements, but when situations deterioriate to the point of being dangerous, humans survive only by making such judgements. Is the Left evil? The Left is an abstraction for a huge number of individuals, so it's ridiculous to call all these individuals evil, but ideas can be evil and need to be judged as evil because of the damage they cause -- as what happened in Russia, China, France, Germany, and, in America during certain times when evil ideas inspired humans to act against our own interests and morals.

Hopefully, we've learned from history, and this mistaken path taken by the Left can be corrected and it will not lead to tragedy. Yes, it's time to make judgements. I choose Israel, because, despite all of Israel's faults, those who surround Israel are preaching destruction, and it's obvious that's not the answer.

Glenn Beck 3/21/2011 -- chaos, Jews and capitalism

On Beck's show today he talked mostly about the chaos in the world and the seemingly strange fusion between the Left and radical Muslims. Beck played a clip of Louis Farrakhan who warned Obama that attacking Qaddafi will come back to haunt him. Farrakhan warned that the riots and revolution against government is here in America. Beck also showed a clip of Benjamin Netanyahu saying the common thread between the Left and radical Muslims is anti-semitism.

Beck warned of economic terrorism and promised to show video tapes of those plotting the terrorism. This doesn't surprise me, I'm in the process of writing a series of posts regarding the Left's campaign to destroy any remnants of a free market. Beck also made a distinction between good and evil and claimed that people need to become less complacent about evil and gain awareness of the forces in the world which seem determined to create enough instability that their solutions are applied -- they will be tyrannical, and, thus, evil.

Beck's solutions are based in his 4 Es Education, Entrepreneurship, Enlightenment, and I can't remember the other. Beck also reported that Obama is giving permission to Brazil to drill in the gulf, and talked about how we are burning food (corn) for energy. Yes, the world is crazy right now, and America is drifting into a nightmare. Beck is right -- people need to become aware and act to make changes. I will give my recommendations in the next few days. What people have believed is not true -- we need an awakening.

Anti-free market from both left and right

At the beginning of the 20th century, as I've written about lately, there was a serious backlash against free enterprise in America and around the world. It started with the influence of Marxist anti-bourgeoisie sentiment, then expressed itself, murderously, in a reduction to anti-Semitism in Germany. Lenin called anti-semitism "the socialism of fools" -- what he meant is that anti-Semitism should fall under the broader category of anti-bourgeoisie, anti-capitalism, anti-free market.

How this played out is both fascinating and horrifying. The Bolshevisks took ownership of commerce, and the fascists co-opted commerce, but both were determined to prevent economic freedom -- the cynical experiment with NEP notwithstanding. America was infected by the diseased hatred of free enterprise spewed from both communists and fascists, and the infection continues to the present -- the latent anti-semitism is also present. American Jews will have to come to term with modern liberalism -- their uncertainty between the motives of left and right is understandable, but the left has never appeared to be a loyal friend. The free market, though, welcomes all.

The combination of anti-semitism and anti-liberal sentiment in Germany, post WWI, came about after the Weimar Republic was forced on a people motivated by culture and empire building. The short period of freedom that came about in Germany, after their defeat, manifested itself in a liberal outburst of creativty -- the relatively few liberal free-thinkers of Germany, who had been apolitical and submerged before the Great War, and who were some of the most well-educated people in the world, wrote novels, developed plays, criticized the old regime, and in general displayed their liberated genius after the war in ways which the general population took as a threat to German culture.

The Allies forced their ideas of civilization on a nation which was still geared toward culture, racial pride and Empire. Germans were looking for someone to blame, so they blamed the Allies for attempting to destroy their culture and prevent them from building their empire eastward to be a super power equal to Britain and the newly globally developing U.S.-- then they found a scapegoat -- the Jews. In a larger way, the Jews represented free markets, artistic and intellectual freedom and liberal openness, so fascism eventually attempted to eliminate the Jews, murdering millions, and control all commerce to further their own ends of cultural purity and empire building.

The gangsterish co-operation between Germany and Russia leading up to and in to WWII was built on a common hatred of the bourgeoisie, free markets, capitalism -- in short, liberal producers and free traders. German fascists accused Russia of being controlled by Jews at one point, and, from the outside, fascism and communism appeared to be at odds, but, behind the scenes, secret treaties were formed to co-operate against the west. Despite all the differences, the one common bond of anti-free marketism infused a large part of the world with a sense of a life-and-death battle against commerce and liberal progress. The political philosophies of the Germans, the Russians, the Italians, and others determined to defeat western liberalism, were continuously adjusted to meet their greater purpose -- domination of the world. Statism was becoming a monster bent on ruling the world through the will to power -- free markets stood in their way.

Britain, France and America were not innocent or uninfested -- they were protecting their statist plans of global control, except they dressed their statism up in virtuous, democratic garb -- although they did have the greater principles on their side -- these priciples shouldn't be dismissed just bcause they acted many times in contradiction to the principles. However, the statist formations of the western allied countries took on their own anti-capitalism, their own versions of economic control. This is a brief overview of influences we see today.

There's at least some evidence that the old right/left distinction, as it's filtered down to us between right corporatism and left heavy regulation of commerce, is insufficient to understand what's happening now in America. There's an awakening which favors a free market. It's been a struggle to dig past socialism, fascism, mixed economy, technocratic mastery, Big Government Republicanism, so on and so forth, to get to the underlying choices available to us today. Socialism has failed -- corporate welfare is mere cronyism -- Big Government Republicanism has failed -- the mixed economy has failed - technocratic central planning and social engineering is a potential nightmare, falling apart more each day.

There's some evidence that union members are waking up to the damage done by Marxist influence on union leaders. There's plenty of evidence, through the Tea Party, that average citizens are rejecting statism and anti-free market sentiment manifested by Democrat Party policies, especially the healthcare takeover. It remains for minorities to wake up and realize that a free market and equal opportunity are their best shots at advancement. The "young people" are in flux, but there is at least hope that many are realizing statism leads to unemployment and economic stagnation and loss of classical liberal principles, and that this understanding will be passed down from generation to generation.

What about the social concerns? There are of ways for society to deal with social problems without destroying the national economy and giving away our freedom. The State has played us against one another long enough -- It's time to shed old ideas and become creative again. The Germans had the Jews as devils -- the Russians had the bourgeosie as devils -- the current American State has the free market itself as the devil -- perhaps the too-powerful State is the real devil.
