When will we get serious about ending War on Drugs?

    http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/12/the-single-best-anti-gun-death-policy-ending-the-drug-war/266505/

As Biden holds court with different interest groups trying to develope a "sensible" gun plan, the lack of discussion regarding an end to the War on Drugs speaks to a lack of seriousness among the actors involved. Statistics on gang/related deaths by guns are difficult to come by, but some experts estimate that as high as half the deaths by gun that are not suicide are gang/drug related. Other statistics say 25% and lower, but anyone who's paid attention knows that the War on Drugs has created a huge number of deaths by gun as gangs battle for control of markets, and as shootouts with police happen across the nation.

Ending the War on Drugs will not stop mentally defective individuals from shooting people, but if Biden is serious about a comprehensive approach to dealing with the death by guns problem, he has to deal with the consequences of the War on Drugs. Insane government policies related to the War on Drugs are indirectly responsible for more deaths of kids than shootings in schools.

Morning Joe 7/17/2012 -- Total bias

Has Joe lost control of his show? Will it now be Morning Mika and Her Happy Comrades? The show started out with a clip of Joe Biden making a speech regarding Paul Ryan's budget plan about how all the people Biden knows have no concern at all about long term debt -- they are only concerned with family and what government can do for their family. Joe Scarborough, separated from the Morning Joe crew, was allowed to give a rebuttal. Mika said Joe's rebuttal is fine when he, Joe, makes it, but some other Republicans don't have credibility. Then Stevie "Chartman" Rattner said that Joe is missing the fact that Ryan's plan for vouchers places old people on their own and that Medicare and Medicaid will be gutted.

So, Joe made a good rebuttal, then Mika and Her Happy Comrades said that Joe is right, but when other Republicans say the same thing, they lack credibility. This is how the Left obscures all issues. They personalize then demonize, while all the time ignoring what's true or false. The Left creates political truths and political lies based on what is advantageous for maintenance of power. Just as Biden says -- it doesn't matter how great the debt is -- it only matters that people get what they need from government. Biden is a con artist. Mika praised Biden and said he was right on. It's painful to watch this display of Leftist propaganda with no true pushback on the facts. Joe made his rebuttal then treated it all as a big game, laughing at how the Leftists would come back with their charts and claims of killing Medicare. There was no serious call for urgency surrounding this matter. Sam McKinnon was on and he should have pounded his fist on the table. Joe should have taken over and destroyed the ideas presented by Biden. Biden's philosophy will destroy the nation's finances, or complete the destruction. This is no game, not to the millions of people who aren't rich and settled financially for life. This type of financial irresponsibility can ruin the lives of tens of millions -- and Biden talks about what is good for the family! What a dangerous hypocrite.

    Morning Joe 5/17/2012 -- Biden?

Again on Morning Joe, the discussion was about the power of political perception. Jeff Greenfield was on the show and he's the only one who brought up the fact that perception might not be taken for reality. The focus of the Morning Joe panel discussion was Joe Biden and his populist speech yesterday. Joe Scarborough said that populism doesn't usually work but then went on to praise Biden's populist message. The Morning Joe guests were all pundits who favor Democrats, so the discussion was just a little biased.

It's amazing these intelligent men and women are using Biden as an example of the authenticity they think is needed to reach the common American. Either the Leftists on Morning Joe want people to believe Biden is in touch with their problems so that Obama's out of touch fumbling will be ameliorated, or they don't know any authentic people and think Biden is one, or they are just desperate to hold someone in the political class up as the real deal so that perception hopefully becomes reality. Does Scarborough really believe Biden "gets it"? Biden is one of the phoniest people in DC. Biden is the country's number 1 patsy selling the economy destroying policies of the Democrats. Biden is a political saleman, that's all. It's an insult to real working people to present Biden as someone who understands how they tick. It's really insulting to continue portraying Americans as the hoi polloi workers as the gates yearning for words of comfort from someone with a heart on the other side of the gate. Americans are diverse, and many Americans are more capable than the clowns in DC -- they want the clowns in DC to stop wasting money and destroying the economy.

Yes, the few union members left who want government protection will circle around Biden and call him a hero, but that old Democratic Party is dissipating. OWS is not so easily won over by Biden's smile and backslapping routine. There was a bit of racist undertone in the conversation in that the panel appeared to be looking for a white front man who can offset Obama's negatives among the white working community.

Bragging about killing Osama bin Laden is becoming weird

At first it was understandable the administration would make some political points when the Navy Seals killed Osama bin Laden, but now with the incessant and juvenile bragging about Seals shooting a worn-out old has-been in the eye is either silly or a little creepy -- I can't decide which. It sounds a tad desperate, like when Biden actually used the phrase bin Laden is dead and GM is alive. They didn't really use that line did they? These are the two defining accomplishments of Obama's first term?

When bin Laden was first killed, there was an understanding that we could celebrate for a minute because bin Laden was responsible for 9/11, and we didn't have to go into the context of our history with bin Laden which would spoil the victory. We helped bin Laden become a great figure in the mideast when we backed him against Russia, and our many interventions in mideast affairs complicates all accounts of 9/11, although nothing excuses such an attack. The fact is that when we ever get around to looking closely at causes and effects regarding our long history of interventions in the mideast, the story is not going to make America look like the pure good guy in white. So, yes, the short celebration of his death was understandable, but if the administration is going to bring up the bin Laden killing as a political trophy over and over, it will invite scrutiny, and scrutiny is fatal in this campaign.

It goes without saying, for anyone with just a little economic understanding and slight familiarity with GM's union relationship and fundamental financial condition, that using GM's failure to pay back the taxpayers's loan, and considering that in 2014 GM will be in financial trouble again because of union pensions, is not very wise.
