What to make of David Brooks
Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 09:59PM Does Brooks really think that Obama is concerned with fiscal sustainability, and does Brooks really trust Obama's promises to reduce the deficits in the future. Brooks calls Obama a pragmatic liberal, which is supposed to be a good thing -- Brooks is making it clear that Obama is no socialist.
Brooks is a little concerned that Obama doesn't have a comprehensive plan to tackle the debt crisis, but he thinks there's a good chance that Obama will respond and do the right thing. Brooks is part of the Centrist/Statist faction of wafflers who move where the political class has sanctioned. From 2008, the political class sanctioned Obama, the pragmatic liberal with a nice crease in his pants leg. Romney is soiled with the filth of money-making -- the Brookses of the political realm will have nothing to do with such mundane, thoughtless activity. Now, Brooks is waiting until The One has left office, then he and his type will push for a GOP candidate mirrored after the pragmatic, politically-correct Obama, thus, bringing the Republican Party into the 21st century as a serious political force. By that time, Brooks is hoping the Tea Party will be played out, and the libertarians will be relegated back to obscurity.
