Is America the State or the Country? -- Obama's speech
Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 07:59PM Is it Socialist Nationalism, revolutionary patriotism, Titoism, or just good old fashioned populism? Obama's speech was marketed as a turn-around, a re-set, Obama with his groove on -- Obama placed Republicans in the position of incorrigible tax-cutters who want to get rid of all regulations so that people make their own laws and rules, who care only about the wealthy and never raising taxes, ever, ever.
Obama is a tax and spend progressive, and he flew his colors proudly. Obama played the American exceptionalism card and framed us as a nation under State Capitalism against China as a nation under State Capitalism -- a battle of super-powers for global economic dominance. This is supposed to inspire patriots to embrace higher taxes and more spending -- anyone who opposes the Jobs Act will work against the country's best interest, and against the interest of the middle class and poor. This was an intellectually insulting speech. Obama is desparate, so he's calling on God and America to help him rise above his statist failures.
According to Obama the only way to create economic growth and to treat American people fairly is through government intervention. If not for government, there would be no roads and bridges, no healthy scientific community, no internet. If not for regulations the country would be trashed and we couldn't breathe the air, and the poor would be at the mercy of greedy business people.
This was a political speech, and Obama is forcing Republicans to raise taxes and continue spending that benefits special interests who'll donate to his campaign in 2012. This was a ploy to save Obama's presidency, not a speech which speaks to economics and the necessary free market environment to create economic growth and job creation.
Obama even brought out Warren Buffett again and incorrectly compared capital gains to income tax. Incredible. Propaganda. Now we have to pay for him to cross the country spreading this propaganda. Enough is enough. America is this country and its people, not the State and a powerful president.
