If Republicans want to win in 2012
Monday, February 14, 2011 at 07:23PM They have the perfect opportunity to answer Obama's budget joke with a serious proposal to deal with SS, Medicare, Medicaid and Militarism. Courageous Republicans need to state clearly to the American people that someone has to lead on this issue and that they're willing to face the wrath of Democrats, including the President, who are cynically waiting for the Republicans to make a move on entitlements.
Republicans should make an announcement that politics as usual are over, and that now serious people need to make serious decisions before the country collapses financially and no one has anything. If the Republicans do this, then when Democrats start their fear campaign aimed at old and young, poor and sick, they will look like political sharks and Republicans will look like serious Americans who care about the people they represent.
