    Nate Silver's unhinged devotion

    http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/331192/nate-silver-s-flawed-model-josh-jordan?pg=2

Silver hit a jackpot last election, 2008. with his predictions, even though he probably fudged, and it wasn't that difficult to call. Silver should thank his lucky stars and ride his credibility on out in a long career of respect for his expert analysis, but he's letting his Obama loyalty fog his reason.

Silver can't expect anyone with a tad of insight into this election to believe that Romney is losing by 5 points in Ohio and that Obama has a 67% chance of winning. Silver is throwing his career away, and for what? Does he think the Demcoratic Party will reward his loyalty? They will discard him like the discredited Obama-fool he's become. It's not too late Nate to do the right thing and objectively make your picks. Such a promising career he had.

Morning Joe 9/26/2012 -- Why the GOP establishment will not support Romney

The Centrist GOP establishment and faux-Republicans like Joe Scarborough have different reasons for not supporting Romney but the main reason is that Romney represents a shift from political means to economic means. In the political class players value the politician, the compromiser, the deal maker, the man or woman who knows how to protect and project power. The political class is intimidated by people from the private sector who enter the political arena. Romney's been called a compromiser, but as governor he merely brought his business pragmatism into politics, but now he understands that business pragmatism applied to statist policies is the wrong direction, that we need to stop government intervention and allow the private sector to worry about pragmatic economic solutions.

The Centrist GOP establishment players would like to see Romney lose because it will likely mean that the establsihment types will be out of power for a long time. It started with the Tea Party and 2010 elections when the status quo was shaken. Some old GOP players cozied up to the Tea Party, but only to cover their asses until they could figure out how to marginalize the threat from New Republicans.

This morning on Morning Joe, Scarborough continued his attack on Mitt Romney. Scarborough even used Rush Limbaugh's concerns about Romney as proof that all Republicans and conservatives believe Romney is blowing it. Limbaugh understands that Romney is not the issue, though, so Scarborough is once again dishonest when he tries to show that he alone understands what has to happen. Scarborough wanted someone like Jeb Bush to run. Bush would have been a disaster, so maybe Scarborough is secretly pulling for Obama no matter what -- Mika said this morning that Joe and Bill Clinton really like one another, so who knows, plus, Scarborough works for the most partisan news outlet in the country, and they are a propaganda wing for the Democratic Party. But Scarborough dismisses such criticism as heated nonsense from the crazies. Scarborough said the difference between Romney and himself, when it comes to political acumen, is that Scarborough got the votes from all the people in little ranch homes -- you know those people, right? Those little people in the little ranch homes who all think and vote alike? They are so cute when they get involved -- all someone like Scarborough has to do is just relate to their little problems and talk down to earth and they swarm to the voting polls in their pick up trucks.

The irony in all this is that while Scarborough says that Romney is out of touch, it's Scarborough who's out of touch. Scarborough said that Romney's team blames the media and polls, although I haven't heard this from the Romney camp, except they've said that polls aren't accurate. The point is not that the media are cherry-picking sound-bites and poll numbers, it's that the polls are irrelevant. The polls aren't capturing the reality of what will happen on election day. Voters can't be reached like they could be reached a decade ago. Someone on Morning Joe brough this up last week and Joe dismissed it by saying he always looked at trends. What? Scarborough is stuck in the 90s and doesn't understand that trends of misinformation are still misinformation. The polls are political tools for the incumbent -- they don't reflect the reality of voter sentiment. My prediction is still that Romney will win, and I think he will win big, because it's not about Romney -- it's about a change in direction.

The pettiness of Scarborough and MSNBC was shown in a clip they played of a Romney/Ryan speech in which the crowd was chanting Romney, Romney, Romney. The Morning Joe crew lied and said the crowd was chanting Ryan, Ryan, Ryan, and then the clip showed Romney aqsking the crowd to use the chant Romney, Ryan, Romney, Ryan, because he was bragging on Ryan and giving him credit. Scarborough made it look like Romney was trying to insert his name. I saw that part of the speech yesterday, and the crowd was chanting Romney, Romney not Ryan, Ryan, and Romney was being humble, not insecure. MSNBC is just a dirty organization, and morning Joe is a dirty show.

Morning Joe 8/1/2012 -- Desperation on the Left

The desperation on the Left regarding the coming presidential and congressional elections is palpable. Actually, it's the establishment that's desperate, and as John Meacham said on Morning Joe today, the establishment is two wings, Republican and Democratic, but it's basically the statist system. Meacham didn't use the word statist, but I believe it's what he was implying. Ted Cruz in Texas won big against the establishemnt candidate. Cruz ran on a limited government platform.

The Morning Joe crew, Andrea Mitchell, Harold Ford Jr, John Meacham and Joe Scarborough, spent most of the morning arguing with Dan Senor regarding the new poll numbers that show Obama ahead in key swing states. The same polls showed Romney doing well last week. The interesting aspect of the polls that the crew didn't mention was that 14% said they didn't have enough information regarding Romney, while only 2% didn't have enough information regarding Obama. Obama is outspending Romney almost 4 to 1 on advertising at this point, so when more people become comfortable with Romney as Romney releases his money on ads, then we'll likely see Romney pulling ahead close to the election.

This has the establishment worried. Even moderate Republicans like Scarborough who love powerful government are worried. Romney represents the private sector and this frightens statists on the Right and Left. Politicians like Cruz also frighten the establishment. Brian Whatshisname was on the show and he hit the nail on the head -- the public is ready to go forward and leave government deadlocked and behind. Recovery will generate from the private sector not from Keynesian government schemes.

Can we trust the polls? I think not.

There were polls in July of 1980 showing Carter beating Reagan. Plus, the polls now are done by the minute, they are partisan, and the major news channels use the polls as political tactics to guide the elections for an Obama win. I just can't trust the polls. I do trust the basic good sense of the American people, and, if I'm wrong, I'll be very disappointed in my misjudgement of the American people. Romney is not optimal by any strectch of the imagination, but if he does what he says he'll do, then it doesn't matter. We need a competent president who will push government to get of the way of American enterprise, then we need a president who will maintain a strong military and national defense, but keep us out of war and stop the drone insanity. I think Romney will do this -- we know Obama hasn't done it.

Morning Joe 4/18/2012 -- Putting people first, that's the answer

On Morning Joe in the first segment the guests were Sam McKinnon, John Heilemann and Robert Reich. Before Reich came on, the panel discussed income disparity and polls showing mixed results regarding Obama and Romney popularity numbers and such. The panel admitted income inequality has been something that has gradually come about since the 60s, and it's not the result of Bush's presidency. They also admitted that the polls are practically meaningless, except they made more of the polls showing Obama with greater popularity numbers than the poll showing Romney in the lead. So, I guess the deal on polls is that they'll be volatile, but, when polls show Romney in an unfavorable light, the poll deserves discussion.

When Robert Reich came on, they asked him about solutions to income disparity and joblessness. Reich blames the current economic crisis on capitalism and recommends government action to help the middle class. Reich wants to see infrastructure spending, more money put into education, and more middle class welfare through Earned Income Tax Credit, putting people first. Wow, why hasn't the political class thought of this before?

McKinnon, Scarborough and Reich all agreed on one thing -- that government must do something big. Mckinnon brought up Tom Friedman's ideas about doing Big Things, mostly infrastructure. McKinnon also brought up No Labels and how the movement is trying to bring the parties together to get Big Things done. They all believe, in spite of soooo much evidence to the contrary, that if the right people in government come up with the right plans and do the right Big Things, then government can turn the economy around and put people to work. The idea of doing Big Things goes back to FDR, and there's nostalgia among the Left and the Centrists for FDR-like bold actions that bring the nation together in a concerted effort to do Big Things. Obviously, they have only read the pro-FDR historical accounts, and not the ones which reveal FDR's interventions as being responsible for the prolonged suffering during The Great Depression. It seems like the political class would have learned by now that we need a free market, not more statism. Bi-partisan statism on steroids is not the answer. It's incredible.

Because the Left and the Centrists have ignored economics, they're blind to what has to happen in order for recovery to occur. The answers are opposite to what was proposed on Morning Joe -- we have to limit government, downsize government, and empower the private sector through free market principles. We will not recover through political means, but through economic means.
